Houttuynia cordata ‘Plena’ (Orange Peel Plant) – Marginal Pond Plant

Houttuynia cordata ‘Plena’, also known as the Orange Peel Plant, is a UK-grown marginal pond plant with vibrant foliage.
Firstly, it features striking, bright green leaves with red and orange highlights, creating a colourful accent in ponds.
Moreover, its unique, fragrant white flowers resemble orange peels, adding a delicate touch to water features.
Because it’s UK-grown, this plant is perfectly suited to local climates, ensuring strong growth and reliable blooms.
In addition, Houttuynia cordata ‘Plena’ thrives in moist to wet soils, making it ideal for pond margins and bog gardens.
Also, it prefers partial shade to full sun, offering flexibility in garden placement for optimal growth.
Although low-maintenance, regular watering during dry spells encourages lush foliage and vibrant flowers throughout the growing season.
To maintain a tidy appearance, remove spent flowers and trim dead foliage in autumn for healthier growth.
Furthermore, it attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies, enhancing biodiversity in your pond or garden.
Equally, it forms neat clumps, preventing invasive spreading, and makes it easy to manage in any space.
Notably, it pairs well with other aquatic plants, adding colour and contrast to your pond or water garden.
